Artur Urbański directs his own drama, in which he uses the Berlin episode of the life of a great Polish director. In 1955, a Polish trainee, director Konrad Swinarski, arrives at Bertolt Brecht's theater. The young artist assists the world-famous master, but also becomes a witness to the conflict of women close to Brecht – his co-workers: his former lover Ruth Berlau and his wife Helena Weigel. He sees their struggle for attention, for the inheritance, for memory.
