Schröder & Statkus
Schröder&Statkus are a German-Russian artist duo, born in Moscow and Leverkusen. Since their studies of Performance Studies at the University of Hamburg, they have been developing new performances as a group. Based on the three major A's of art history: Accident / Appropriation / Accumulation Schröder&Statkus investigate the gaps between original and copy, reality and fiction, perfection and imperfection in their artistic processes. Art should be liberated from elitarism and the collective is driven by the questions What is art? Who should make art? Who determines which art is valuable or not ? At the same time, evaluation systems within society are examined that go beyond the themes of art.
