Roots Daughters
The Roots Daughters were founded in 2009 by a duo from Pula, Croatia, who love roots music and hosted the first dub and roots nights at the legendary Autonomous Cultural Center Metelkova Mesto in Ljubljana. After being part of the regional scene for a few years, Julie continues her mission when she moves to Berlin in 2013. She meets Jahminta Zulu (Vintage Night Cologne) on the same musical frequency and they decide to join forces. Strongly inspired by Rastafari and Jamaican soundsystem culture, the sessions are a space where they share vibes and knowledge, develop skills and empower each other. Both are passionate vinyl collectors who let you experience reggae music in all its beauty and versatility.
They organize regular events and create a space and platform to represent female activists in the scene. Another goal is to give recognition and tribute to the great artists* who have been criminally underestimated or unheard in the past by playing their songs and helping to spread the message in music - Equal rights and justice for all!
