Pure Reason Revolution

Pure Reason Revolution is an English progressive rock band founded in 2003 by Jon Courtney with his brother Andrew, Chloe Alper, John Dobson and Gregory Jong. In 2004, their debut single Apprentice of the Universe was released. It made it into the top 20 of the alternative charts and number 74 on the single charts. In 2005, Pure Reason Revolution played at several festivals in the United States and England as a support to Mew, Hope of the States and Oceansize. Gregory Jong then left the band and was replaced by Jamie Willcox. At the beginning of 2005 the debut album The Dark Third was released, which was widely recognized by critics.

In 2006, Andrew Courtney left the band and was replaced by Paul Glover. Pure Reason Revolution often played as the opening act for Blackfield. The second album Amor Vincit Omnia was released on 2009 on the Superball Music label. The third album Hammer And Anvil was released in late 2010. At the end of 2011, the band broke up after a last UK tour in November. In June 2019, Pure Reason Revolution appeared for the first time after their separation at the Midsummer Prog Festival in Valkenburg aan der Geul.
