NOMUS
Gdańsk's NOMUS—the New Museum of Art—is the youngest museum of contemporary art in Poland, operating as a department of the Modern Art Division of the National Museum in Gdańsk; it is located in a former school workshop building on the historic site of the Gdańsk shipyard. Its aim is to talk to the audience about the contemporary world through the medium of art and to make art itself close, comprehensible and accessible to the viewer.
In addition to the exhibition halls, the NOMUS building offers a space called 'Friends from the Sea'; this is a place for meetings and social activities - with a café, a sensory play area for children and a bookshop. On the ground floor, you can attend film screenings, live events, discussions and concerts. The reading room offers the opportunity to study publications on contemporary art, and the education room offers the chance to take part in classes and workshops.
