Muzeum Pałac Herbsta
A neo-Renaissance villa in Łódź, probably built according to the design of Hilary Majewski in 1875–1877, in which Karol Scheibler's oldest daughter - Matilda - lived with her husband Edward Herbst. In 1990, for restoring the splendor of the Herbst family residence, the Museum of Art in Łódź was awarded the Europa Nostra medal. In April 2012, the Old Art Gallery was opened in a new exhibition space in a former coach house, where you can admire the works of Polish and European painting. On 20 September 2013, the doors of the Herbstów villa were reopened after a thorough renovation and refurbishment lasting almost two years. During the process, efforts were made to restore its original shape to the maximum on the basis of a wide archival and iconographic query. Among other things, the "winter garden", or the villa palm house, was reconstructed. The garden next to the villa was also thoroughly reconstructed. The museum unit, after renovation in 2013, took the official name "Herbst Palace Museum".
