Museum of Central Pomerania in Słupsk

The Museum of Central Pomerania in Słupsk continues the activities of the city's first museum, established in 1924. Today, the local collection comprises more than 30,000 objects and a book collection of more than 22,000 volumes. The museum has a rich and varied collection: objects connected with the history of Pomerania, ancient and contemporary art, historical crafts, souvenirs of the last inhabitants of the castle, numismatic items and ethnographic objects. In addition, it includes special collections: old prints, cartography and archives. Its pride is the world's largest collection related to Stanisław Ignacy Witkiewicz, a.k.a. Witkacy.

The Museum of Central Pomerania is a multi-departmental museum. It comprises the main complex on the banks of the River Słupia in the city centre, comprising buildings on the left (the Pomeranian Dukes' Castle, Castle Mill, Richter Granary and the museum's conservation, library and administration buildings, the Manor House and Mill Gate) and right (the White and Red Granaries) sides of the river. It also has two external branches: The Museum of Slovincian Countryside in Kluki, where the material culture of one of the last groups of the indigenous people of Pomerania—the Slovincians—is presented; and the Museum of the Folk Culture of Pomerania in Swołów, where remnants of the material culture of rich Pomeranian peasants can be seen.
