Max Vaahs
Max Vaahs is a somewhat illusive character at the spearhead of the Frankfurt collective HardWorkSoftDrink. As a resident at the city's famed Robert Johnson club, Vaahs has played alongside the biggest names in the scene, while sticking true to a stripped back punchy sound that characterises what he's all about.
He grew up in a small town located near to Frankfurt called Idstein. Basically there was no real access to electronic music, but when Thomas P. Heckmann played at the Hessentag in 2002 in Idstein, Max Vaahs was impressed.
Another thing that influenced him a lot was music television. He spent many hours skipping his homework and watching music videos on TV instead.
Around the age of 13, electronic music became a passion for him. A friend gave him the Sound of the Fourth Season compilation by Sven Väth and he was blown away. Before that he mainly listened to Hip Hop, but also here beats attracted him always more than the lyrics.
