Director of unmistakable style and wit spits on his own ranks – turning against the façade of the golden era of Hollywood. The spoilt author is already tired by superficial comedies so he decides to make a raw drama about the underclass called O, Brother, Where Are Thou? In the guise of a bum, he embarks on a convoluted journey around the country. He meets a fascinating beauty, gets to places that take his breath away, and into problems of which he had never dreamt of among high society. He gets to know the bitter taste of life of the humble and the pitiful and finally realizes where his place is. Joel McCrea and the charming Veronica Lake are in the title roles of the classic of the comedy genre. Not for nothing, the Coen brothers paid tribute to this elegant combination of comedy and drama.
