MYDY

MYDY is a Czech music band from Prague, formed in 2012. The original name Mydy Rabycad was shortened to MYDY in 2019. It plays a fusion of electroswing and other styles of electronic music, which it calls glamtronic. “...It's fun, catchy yet sophisticated and intelligent electropop with many references to various retro styles,“ the band says of itself.

In their words, glamtronic combines two main elements that distinguish the group. One is ”glam”, with reference to the grandeur and presentation of 80s glam bands embodied in films such as Velvet Goldmine, and the other is a mix of contemporary electronic music. They were only the second Czech band ever to perform at the Glastonbury festival in England.

In the summer of 2017, the band completed a successful American tour where they performed in front of a crowd of many thousands alongside the legendary Tom Petty with his The Heartbreakers, Muse and P!nk. The performance at the Festival d'été de Québec, celebrating its 50th anniversary, was equally fantastic. Other European successes include the Blue Balls Festival in Lucerne, Switzerland, where they met Patti Smith, the Eier Mit Speck festival in Viersen, Germany, and the Treibhaus in Innsbruck, Germany, as well as appearances at the Lowlands festival in Holland.

In 2019, the band cut a new album Numbers at a concert in Forum Karlín and announced a name change – only MYDY – thus drawing a thick line not only behind their electroswing beginnings. In 2022 they released the album V.
