Mrakoplaš

Mrakoplaš is a band playing music between the genres of blues, boogie and folk. It performs not only in its basic line-up (2 vocals, harmonica, guitars, bass, drums), but also in a chamber formation with a light rhythm section. This formation plays original music spiced with world famous songs, which it adds to its repertoire during long three-hour performances.

Inspired by the character of the under-educated wizard Rincewind from Terry Pratchett’s Discworld book series, it was created in 1995 by Pavel Lipták, who is also the frontman and author of most of the songs. His storytelling is (together with the fairy-tale-like subtle stories contained in the lyrics) the unmistakable hallmark of this band.
