Jiří Suchý

Jiří Suchý (born 1 October 1931 in Pilsen) is a Czech theatre actor, musician, lyricist, singer, poet, composer, writer, filmmaker, graphic designer, artist, theatre director, comedian and collector. He is a co-founder of Theatre Na zábradlí and Semafor and brother of Ondřej Suchý. In November 2022, he was the first to enter the Hall of Fame in the Český slavík poll.

He collaborated with Miroslav Horníček, Ivan Vyskočil and later formed an authorial duo with Jiří Šlitr. After Šlitr’s death, Ferdinand Havlík became his musical collaborator and since 1975 his main theatre partner has been Jitka Molavcová.

Jiří Suchý is the co-author of many comedies, cabarets and musicals – Člověk z půdy (1959), Zuzana je sama doma (1960), Jonáš a tingltangl (1962) and Dobře placená procházka (1965).
