Erlend Apneseth Trio

Erlend Apneseth is one of the best known players on the violin from the Hardanger region, which is referred to in Norway as hardingfele. Rooted in the tradition of Apneseth in recent years, he entered the improvised stage of contemporary music, which became his new home. The debut recording of Blikkspor, produced by the renowned Norwegian trumpeter Arve Henriksen, has gained recognition from critics, both from folk, jazz and contemporary music magazines. His second album with drummer Øyvind Hegg-Lunde (Building Instrument, José González) and guitarist Stephan Meidell (Cakewalk, Krachmacher) was released in February 2016 at the Norwegian label Hubro and received great reviews from both national and international media such as BBC Music Magazine and MOJO. In 2016, Erlend Apneseth wrote compositions commissioned by Førde International Folk Festival performed by Ole Morten Vågana (double bass) Hans Hulbækmo (drums), Stein Urheim (guitar, bozoki), Erika Rydvalla (nyckelharpa) and Apneseth himself. The music was recorded and released in April 2017. In September of the same year, the artist also released the second album at Hubro, entitled Åra.
