Les musiciens du Louvre
Les Musiciens du Louvre were founded in 1982 by Marc Minkowski and quickly developed into one of the most important European ensembles for historical performing arts. For a long time, the repertoire of the formation focused on French baroque music and the works of George Frideric Handel. With Monteverdi's L'incoronazione di Poppea at the Aix-en-Provence Festival, as well as works of early classical, classical and 19th century French music, the ensemble's repertoire began to expand. The orchestra has been based in Grenoble since 1996 and gives a series of concerts there every year.
Les Musiciens du Louvre are supported by the Département de l'Isère, the Région Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes and the Ministry of Culture and Communication (DRAC Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes).
