Alte Feuerwache
The carefully renovated Alte Feuerwache is located in direct proximity to Karl-Marx-Allee near the underground station Weberwiese. The protected culture center was opened in September 1998 in the 1884-built former fire department.
In this municipal institution an independent and continuos culture and free time offer is presented with exhibitions, events, courses and projects.
Interested people can find well-equipped exhibition, play and event premises for publicly funded conditions. The owner is the district administration of Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg.
The gallery space Projektraum is situated in the ground floor of the 1884-built former fire department. Since 2003 the gallery of the culture center with about 150 square meters is an exhibition space for local visual artists, social cultural projects as well as cooperation projects inside the district.
Guided tours and talks with the exhibiting artists, workshops for students, theatrical events, lectures and other events complete and deepen the exhibition program.
Studiobühne at Alte Feuerwache is a stage with variable space installation. Among the wide offer of Studiobühne you can find theatre plays, cabaret, lectures, discussion circles, dance theater, musicals, operettas, chanson, choir concerts and chamber music. Old classics are standing in contrast to new and experimental formats. The stage is also suitable for conventions, presentations and more. Children from 3 years can enjoy puppet theater and fairytale plays.
Besides, there is a youth club with a various program of free time activities for children and adolescents.
