The Dead South

The province of Saskatchewan is exactly as its name suggests: lost in the Canadian prairie. It is more than twice the size of Poland and has only one million inhabitants. Nature and peace. Perhaps also a lot of time to fill this silence with music. This is where The Dead South come from, who musically harmonize perfectly with their surroundings. On their debut album Good Company these four beards in hats and singer Nate Hilts present their unique style - a mixture of folk, neofolk and bluegrass-folk. Their music can also be simply called alternative country with a fresh melodic line, a lot of sense of humour and hoarse lyrics. The instrumental layer deliberately remained pure: Guitars, cello, banjo, bass drum and mandolin as acoustic foundations for the characteristic, full of vocals and harmony.

The first album was a promise of sorts, which the band kept with the new album Illusion & Doubt. Without a doubt, one can say that the prairie quartet has matured. To energetic, passionate and sometimes surprisingly catchy melodies were added harmonic changes and a brilliant instrumental layer. In 2019 their album Sugar & Joy was released.
