Kapela Hanki Wójciak
Hania Wójciak is a singer-songwriter, journalist, actress and highlander from Zakopane. Winner of the 3rd Remember about Osiecka 2008, 1st prize of the 46th Student Song Festival 2010 and 2nd prize of the Korowód 2011 Festival of Creativity. Hanka learned experimental singing and improvisation at workshops of such masters as Olga Szwajgier, Gendos, Sainkho Namtchylak, Iva Bittova. Her debut album, Znachorka, was released in June 2014 by Radio Krakow. In the band's music you can find echoes of Oriental and Celtic music, Polish folk motifs, broken rhythms, vocal improvisation in the whistle register. The simplicity and repeatability of motifs is constantly intertwined with improvisation, peace with wildness, joy with sadness. This is music close to earth, folk, dance and trance at the same time. Hanka Wójciak's lyrics describe the contemporary world, but the archaisms hidden in them and the words taken from the highland dialect give the songs a fairy tale, folklore.
