Imperial Triumphant

Born in the metropolis: Imperial Triumphant embodies the sounds of New York City. From top floor luxury to the rotten underground. They are an avant-garde metal group, known for their dissonant take on the genre. Pretty much everything about their aesthetics, both visual and musical, is unique for metal – their influences are as much dissonant black and death metal and avant-garde and free jazz. Their image is decadent and opulent, creating an illustration of highly developed society and metropolitan decay. The chaos, menagerie and dangers of the city clash with its reputation for majesty and extravagance. Imperial Triumphant formed in 2005 and released their first EP_Obeisance_, in 2010, which was followed up with the first full length, Abominamentvm in 2012. However, it wasn't until 2018's Vile Luxury that their current approach manifested itself in full. Ezrin described the record as our most refined and metropolitan release to date, commenting further that the band had taken the New York City influence that shaped the world, embraced the aspect of our sonic pyramid that at its core comes from jazz, and applied it to black metal. Since then the band has released two more albums, Alphaville in 2020 and Spirit of Ecstasy in 2022. The albums saw them work with the likes of Tomas Haake of Meshuggah, their longtime collaborator Colin Marston, Trey Spruance of Mr. Bungle, Bloody Panda's Yoshiko Ohara, The Mantle's Max Gorelic, Testament's Alex Skolnick, Voivod's Denis Bélanger and legendary smooth jazz saxophonist, Kenny G.
