Henrik Szanto

Literatura, Show | Henrik Szanto is a British-Finnish author, slam poet and moderator.

Szantos father is from Huganry, his mother from Finland and he was born in Germany. Besides the Finnish citizenship he also has a British passport. He once described himself as a "mixture out of circumstances".

Since 2012 Szanto has been around the entire German-speaking area as a poetry slammer. Often his texts refer to his daily life in a humoristic way or deal satirically and critically with current political events. Szanto qualified for the Austrian national championship (Ö-Slam) several times as well as for the German-speaking championship. Together with Jonas Scheiner he forms the slam team Kirmes Hanoi, which participates in contests as well. In 2018, Scheiner and Szanto won the team championship of Ö-Slam at Klagenfurt. It was also with Jonas Scheiner, when Szanto worked for the video blog project Slamsenf for the Austrian channel ÖRF, for which he worked as a author and stood in front of the camera from 2015 to 2016. As a part of the artist collective FOMP he regularly moderates literature and cultural events.

In 2016, Szanto's debut novel Es glänzt und ist schön was published by Milena Verlag.

Szanto speaks Finnish, Hungarian, English and German. He has been living in Vienna since 2011, where he studies psychology and communication.
