Galeria Sztuki im. Jana Tarasina
The Jan Tarasin Art Gallery was established in 1977 as the Biuro Wystaw Artystycznych [Art Exhibition Office] and operated under that name until 2010, when it adopted its current one. The Gallery's mission is to carry out exhibition and educational activities, disseminate knowledge about contemporary art – its precursors and classics, as well as those who set the latest trends and directions of thought, to introduce contemporary art to ever-wider circles of viewers and to bring it out into the public space. The gallery wants to stimulate the intellectual and spiritual development of the city's inhabitants, develop creativity and sensitivity – not only aesthetic but also ethical. It wants, through its activities, to prepare for the reception and interpretation of contemporary art and to provoke discussion about the art itself and the themes it addresses.
