Fanfare Ciocărlia - the legendary Balkan brass band returns to Wroclaw. Balkan evenings with energetic dance music played live by the best bands have already become the showpiece of Wrocław's Stary Klasztor club. This time, Romanian Fanfare Ciocărlia will play, one of the most important Brench wind orchestras, the main rival Boban Marković Orchestra in Balkan Brass Battle. It is a 12-piece brass band originating from the village of Zece Prăjini in northern Romania. The group began as a free gathering of musicians playing occasionally at weddings and christenings. In October 1996, German sound engineer and record producer Henry Ernst visited Zece Prăjini and convinced the musicians to create a traveling band. Fanfare Ciocarlia was chosen for the name of the band: Fanfare is a Romanian word of French origin, which means a brass band, and Ciocarlia is a Romanian lark. From the moment they were discovered by Ernst, who became their manager, the band played over a thousand concerts in over 50 countries around the world.
