Dirk Leyers

For Dirk Leyers, music has always been an instinctive and informative process. He started playing instruments in his childhood, opening a pathway to the form of communication that music represents for him today.

A move to Cologne in the 90s led Dirk to meeting Matias Aguayo, with whom he founded the groundbreaking Closer Musik label which culminated with an intensely productive period in Buenos Aires. When the two artists decided to close the chapter after several prolific years, Dirk established his solo project in Berlin and released his Wellen debut EP through Kompakt.

In addition to his solo work he has collaborated with various artists such as Justus Köhncke or Eric D Clark. Today he works closely alongside Nerk, one half of Toktok, both in the studio and as a live act. Together, they have released tracks on labels like Speicher, V-Records or Klang Elektronik.
