Deutsches Technikmuseum

Deutsches Technikmuseum is located near Potsdamer Platz at Gleisdreieck, on the site of the former Anhalter station. A big museum park with wind- and water mills, forge and brewery is as well part of the museum.

The technical museum that was founded in 1982 is rooted in the tradition of various German and Berlin technical collections that found a new home there. Nevertheless, a lot of objects got destroyed during World War II.

The contemporary architecture of the new building and the historical building that has grown since 1874 are significant in the environment. With a Raisin Bomber on the facade a direct context to Berlin is created.

The museum shows a broad specter of old and new technic and its various connections to the cultural history and daily life of humans. In daily presentations, workshops, events and guided tours visitors have the possibility to learn and experience the content in an interactive way. Besides, there is an extensive technical-historical library and a historical archive.
