The band-institution of the Canadian hardcore punk scene. The group led by the tireless vocalist and guitarist Joe "Shithead" Keithley was founded in 1978 in Vancouver, Canada. D.O.A.'s work is characterized by uncompromising political statements most often associated with anti-globalism, anti-racism or the freedom of speech. Together with such bands as The Germs, Black Flag and Negative Trend, they are considered to be the precursors of the hardcore trend.
