Alte Münze
Alte Münze is a former coin press workshop at Berlin-Mitte, close to the river banks of Spree, and offers space for art and culture projects, young creatives from Berlin as well as for various events. thereby, an interdisciplinary community and the future oriented usage of historical urban spaces are in the foreground.
The current operator Projekt030 GmbH moved into Alte Münze in 2013. Under the name Spreewerkstätten they have made more and more spaces of the site usable during the past years. Besides event spaces, aterliers, record studios and offices, there is also a swing dance school, an alternative drawing school, a multimedia exhibition and the Migration Hub. In the end of 2016, the project space „ OG - Contemporary opportunities opened its doors. It understands itself as the experimental center of art and culture production at Alte Münze and develops a public program for the venue. In 2017, the urban gardening project Münzgarten started, and there are plans for a community café in 2018.
