Albertine Sarges is an artist whose music combines references to the 70s and 80s with feminist lyrics. Albertine Sarges has had a varied career as a musician, performing live in bands such as Kat Frankie and Holly Herndon, and as one half of the electro-pop duo Itaca under the pseudonym Ossi Viola. In 2017, she formed the band The Sticky Fingers, whose name is not influenced by the legendary Rolling Stones album, despite the similarities.
In her song The Girls, Sarges identifies herself as a hippie: "I like them deep/Cause deep down I'm still a hippie". Following her acclaimed debut album, she released the EP Family of Things in the winter of 2022. The EP features the single Hold On, which deals with the subject of quitting smoking and sticking to it. The accompanying video is a remarkable (and hilarious) depiction of Albertine embodying the marketing myth of the Marlboro Man, as he battles his addiction trapped inside a giant pack of cigarettes.
